- Fully automatic: pour ingredients into bowl, press two buttons
- Timer controls operation for different frozen confections
- Housing, bowl, paddle made of stainless steel for easy cleaning
- 12 inches wide, 11 inches high, 18 inches deep; weighs 38 pounds
Fully automatic and precisely controlled by a timer, this machine takes the trouble and guesswork out of making ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt, gelato, and frozen drinks at home. Ingredients go into the bowl, the timer is set, two buttons are pressed and about 30 minutes later 1-1/2 quarts of a frozen confection are ready for consumption. Because the machine doesn't require its bowl to be frozen for hours in a refrigerator's freezer (like less expensive machines that only churn), it can immediately begin making another batch. If a batch becomes too hard the machine shuts off automatically. Not only does it work professionally it looks the part, as the housing, bowl, and paddle are made of stainless steel for sanitation and easy cleaning. The 100-watt machine measures 12 inches wide, 11 inches high, and 18 inches deep, and it weighs 38 pounds. Made it Italy, it carries a one-year warranty against defects. An instruction booklet with many recipes is included. --Fred Brack

I was disappointed that it does not do what it claims, not even close. I bought it and tried to make a few batches that the instruction book said would take 30 minutes. As recommended, I started with cold ingredients. After 50 minutes I still had a soupy mix. If it cost under $100 dollars, maybe I would have learned to deal with it falling below expectations. I returned it. I will give Amazon a lot of credit here, the return process was easy and the refund was expedient.

This machine is well designed and well made. Not only that it does what it is supposed to do - make ice cream. I initially purchased the Cuisinart ICE 50 for less than half the cost and that is what I got less than half the Lello machine. The Cuisinart is badly designed, poorly constructed and limited customer service. An ice cream maker is essentially a refrigerator with a paddle to mix and maintain an even consistency. The refrigeration unit is well ventilated and so you have ice cream in as little as 30 min. Even after repairing my brand new Cuisinart, the ventilation was poor and the mixture came out like soup after 40 minutes. The mixer on the Cuisinart machine is on a long arm that has a tendency to be displaced upwards in the event the mix does become thick. Save yourself the brain damage and spend the extra money on this machine. The stress you save yourself will be worth it.

I read a number of reviews before purchasing this model. Everyone seemed to like this one, and the only concern I saw was that some people wanted it to have a removable container to make it easier to clean. I noticed, though, that most models commonly do not have removable containers, so I assumed it chills better that way. Yes, it is a bit of a pain to clean it, but it makes the most outstanding ice cream that I don't mind a bit! It is very easy to use (put in the ingredients, push two buttons, set the timer), and chills quickly. The recommended time is 30 minutes, but the timer can be set up to 60 minutes, and I found 40 is about right for a soft-serve consistency. I sometimes put it in the freezer for a few more hours if I want it firmer, but it's great right out of the machine. This is a top quality machine, and worth the money.
Advice - don't tighten the nut down much on the beater when you put it in. I did that once, and it tightened up further while freezing - I needed a wrench to remove it - so be gentle on it and make it easy for yourself! Also, if you go with one good ice cream book, get "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz. Between that book and this machine, I'm in heaven!

My machine broke only after 2 months of use, the nut on the blade stock so firmly nothing anyone can do to unscrew it. My husband tried, my brother, my in-laws, my friends tried, nothing works. I called customer service number, and they were very rude to me, sounded very annoyed and suggested I souk it in the water. However, it's impossible,
considering that the bolt is higher than the bowl level. So, now I am still occasionally use it, but washing it is so much more difficult with the sharp blade stock inside. I am surprised of how bad is the customer service considering how expensive is the machine.

I purchased this as a gift for my father and the whole family loves it. It made the best vanilla bean ice cream I have ever tasted. We then made mango peach sorbet and it too was incredible. It's only been a few days but I think we have a new tradition - making fresh ice cream.
Looks - Gorgeous mirror finish. It takes up a lot of counter space but it'll be a conversation starter.
Quality - Weighs a ton but top notch. I'm betting it will last a few lifetimes.
Ease - Two buttons (cold and stir) and a timer knob - simple. The instructions have great easy recipes. The cleanup was quick.
Results - The best tasting ice cream, sorbets, and sherbets you'll ever taste. Makes just the right amount for a family to share over a few days.
