"BEWARE" 2010-05-21
By baker (Dallas, TX United States)
This is a first for me to write a review on anything, but I am significantly disappointed. I love my Kitchenaid mixer so I saw the ice cream maker as a natural progression. Though I followed the ice cream maker instructions to the letter, my first attempt at using the ice cream maker burned out my mixer. Now I am having to replace my 6 qt, 575W Kitchenaid stand mixer.

"Kitchen Aide Ice Cream Maker" 2010-05-20

I had purchased this unit based on a friends recommendation. Since purchasing it I have made 2 batches of French Vanilla Ice Cream and 1 batch of Orange Sorbet. Both were ready to serve in less than the recommended time. I don't know if my freezer is colder than other folks, but the unit works very well.

One evening was quite warm in the house, the ice cream froze in less than the suggested time, but it did start to melt quickly while scooping it out of the bowl and dasher. So we just had to eat it up faster, some how I don't find that a negative.

The orance sorbet tasted so much better than anything I have ever purchased from a store.

I am certain you will enjoy the fresh and creamy taste of either home made ice cream or home made sorbet.

"This makes the most AMAZING ice-cream!!!" 2010-05-13

I LOVE this kitchen-aid attachment and would highly recommend it to ANYONE!! I have most of the kitchen-aid attachments and this is by far one of my favorites (along with the pasta maker). It requires almost no skill to operate and makes the most delectable ice-cream that will amaze you and your friends. I make all of my recipes from the Ben & Jerry's cookbook - sometimes I use raw eggs; sometimes (when sharing with friends) I use eggbeaters. The first ice-cream I made was the caramel one from the kitchen aid booklet and it was very strange in texture. I then made a light chocolate ice-cream from the mixer bible book which wasn't very good. Then I started using Ben & Jerry's recipes and suddenly I was eating the best ice-cream I had EVER had in my life - seriously, NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS ICE-CREAM. Every single Ben & Jerry's recipe has been outstanding. Once you have a good ice-cream base, you can add whatever you like. Like B&J say, there's no such thing as bad ice-cream :) Friends who try this ice-cream all say it's the best they've ever had. Every single person. It is seriously good ice-cream. I serve it in little tiny bowls because it is super rich, and when you eat really good food, it's all about tasting each bite and savoring the moment, not scarfing down bowls of it like you have to with the light kind so you can feel satisfied. This ice-cream is amazing. And did I mention, it's easy to make?

"I'm eating a LOT more Ice Cream now" 2010-05-12
By Charles E. Wingo IV (Conyers, GA)
This product just works. It's solid and well designed, and will fit virtually any KitchenAid stand mixer. There are really only two drawbacks to it: it takes up a lot of room in your freezer, and even fruit sorbets have a lot of calories.

That said, I'm extremely happy with it. I only wish it came with a better set of recipies. If you buy it, buy a book of recipies along with it. (I'm really happy with the Ben & Jerry's book I got - I've tried four of the recipies so far, and they've all been excellent).

Highly recommended.

"excellent intro to ice cream making" 2010-05-11
By Mr. Jerkface (DC)
If you've got enough room in your freezer for the bowl, you've got yourself an ice cream maker. Very simple, easy to follow recipes and there are thousands more online. The perfect intro to small batch ice cream making. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to give ice cream making a try.
