Product Description

Deni, Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker, Dispenses Ice Cream Into Cups & Cones, Makes Up To 2 QT, 8-10 Servings, No Ice Or Salt Needed, Stainless Steel Canister With Liquid Gel. This ice-cream machine makes soft-serve ice cream for cones, sundaes, or for piping into cannoli shells that will rival that sold at the local ice cream parlor-plus it makes fruit slushies or frozen cocktails as well. The 5530 produces 1 quart or 8 to 10 cones of ice cream in a mere 10 to 20 minutes and is a fun way to serve dessert at summer barbecues or kids' birthday parties. The unit stands 19 inches tall when assembled and comes with a patented freezer canister that must be pre-frozen for at least 8 hours before creating a dessert. The canister has walls that are liquid-filled for even freezing and that are double insulated to keep the bowl colder for a longer period of time. When ingredients are ready, the canister pops into the body compartment. The stir paddle fits inside the canister and the plastic lid locks onto the top. The lid is clear for checking that desserts reach the proper custard-like thickness and has an opening for easily adding ingredients; however, chunky ingredients, such as candies or nuts, should be added afterwards as they can clog and damage the soft-serve spout. The compact 20-watt motor fits onto the lid and the power switch starts the action. With the ice cream maker running, cooks pour their mixed recipes through the top of the lid and wait anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes for the ingredients to reach the proper consistency. Soft-serve desserts dispense through a spout just below the ice cream maker's body by pushing down on a lever. The sturdy base prevents the ice cream maker from tipping during mixing and its feet are spread wide apart to accommodate a large sundae bowl. This appliance comes with a recipe book and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

"Terrible" 2010-05-20
By aek03002 (USA)
First of all, this was very difficult to put together. Some of the pieces just don't seem to fit together right. I had the bucket in my freezer all winter, and pre-chilled my custard in the refrigerator overnight, and it still wasn't enough. It took over 45 minutes for it to thicken, and turned to soup within 15 seconds of serving it into a cup. It also dripped into the cup instead of coming out in a steady stream. I never came close to looking like the item photo. I tried freezing it for a few hours, and the consistency was definitely off - tasted grainy instead of smooth. Save your money and buy a regular ice cream maker where you scoop it out of the bucket.

"Deni Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker" 2010-05-10

I am giving this 3 stars not because of the seller. The seller is great! It is because Deni made a soft serve that is no good for a party of any kind. You can only use this product once every 24 hours. If you are looking for an ice cream maker make sure you do research and look up in Google for the intrctions. This makes about 3 sundae's than wait another 24 hours to make more. Too much time. Again the seller is good and prompt with deliveries. The product needs improvment. Not the seller's fault!

"Read before you buy" 2010-02-06

I ordered this machine from All About Electronics on the Amazon site. I received the machine in good time and in good condition. Unfortunately the machine does not work no matter what you do and you cannot get your money back without spending money to return the machine. The company will not reimburse the shipping. So don't waste your money to buy this, none of them will work and your children will be as disappointed as mine. After posting this review the company contacted me and sent me a return label so I would not have any charges and promised to reimburse the purchase price after they receive the machine.

"Horrible, Save Your Money- No ice, No cream- no ice cream." 2009-04-02
By apoem (Bosque Farms, NM USA)
I rarely write poor reviews. However, this is such a horrible product that I am sharing my experience so that others can skip this and look for something better. This did not work. The ice cream never got to a soft serve stage. It stayed runny and messy. I tried it twice. I tried following the directions exactly. I tried freezing everything. I let it run longer than it was supposed to. The ice cream was never ice and it wasn't cream- It never became ice cream. It remained runny liquid. When I called the company to see if I was doing something wrong they told me I had to partially freeze everything- the bowl, the ingredients, everything. That takes a lot of time and more importantly, it does not meet what this product promises (namely ice cream, soft serve in a short time).
Save your money.
