White Mountain F69206-X 6-Quart Electric Ice Cream Freezer

Product Description

For a century and a half, since a woman in New York invented the hand-crank freezer, making ice cream has been an American family value. Mom blended the ice cream mixture; Dad filled the maker's wooden tub with ice and rock salt to achieve the below-freezing temperature needed to produce smooth confections; kids clamored to turn the crank; and everyone happily consumed big bowls of ice cream as a reward. This family-bonding activity remains as vibrant today as it was through a century-and-a-half of "progress." With various ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sherbet recipes included, this old-fashioned White Mountain ice cream maker maintains the tradition. Only the use of modern stainless steel for the freezer can and dasher and the electric motor distinguish this rugged maker from the one earlier generations enjoyed. And years from now it will still be used, knitting together a family's history. --Fred Brack

Features
  1. Motor: Only the White Mountain brand uses a 12,000 RPM commercial-grade motor to provide ample churning torque needed for making homemade ice cream. No other ice cream maker has the power to restart after stopping to add fruit, berries, chocolate, or candy to a thickened ice cream mixture.
  2. Bucket: The wood bucket is crafted of select pine from New England and bound with strong galvanized hoops and electroplated fittings to ensure lasting stability.
  3. Canister: The tall canister design allows the ice cream to come in close contact with the ice and rock salt making it freeze faster. Our canister is manufactured of heavy-duty stainless steel that will provide years of ice cream making service.
  4. Dasher: The patented dasher system is constructed of heavy-duty cast iron and is electroplated for lasting durability. It will never warp out of shape like plastic dashers are prone to do. And the beech wood blades are self-adjusting to ensure uniform scraping of the ice cream mixture on the canisters interior sidewall.

The White Mountain Experience
The White Mountain Experience started in the 1850s.
Founded in 1853, we’ve always been about making good times happen right at home with ice cream you make yourself. The experience starts with the discussion--often the kids get their pick--of what flavor ice cream your family wants to make. Vanilla with bittersweet chocolate chips or maybe peach made with orchard fresh peaches. Every delicious choice is limited only by your imagination. Just set up your White Mountain ice cream maker with ice and rock salt, and let the fun begin. Whether you’re cooling off a hot summer picnic or warming up a homebound winter weekend, the experience is one you can’t put a price on.
Our secret is the triple-motion dasher.
At the heart of the White Mountain ice cream maker is a uniquely designed, twin-blade "dasher." The outer canister turns clockwise and the blades turn both clockwise and counter clockwise. That triple-motion action continuously folds the ingredient mixture from the outer walls back onto itself creating the smoothest and creamiest down-home ice cream ever made.

The ice cream churn was as advertised and was what my husband wanted since he had had one years before.

"Don't waste your money!!!" 2010-05-03
By J. Peterson (Texas)
During the spring, summer, and fall, I make ice cream a couple times a month. It has been a family tradition for many years. In my youth, mom & dad made ice cream often and Dad had a hand crank White Mountain freezer that lasted for the better part of a quarter century. I have had 2 of the newer White Mountain electric freezers in the past 3 years and 3 replacement motors. What once was a well made American product, is now a Chinese made piece of junk, cleverly disguised as the old reliable White Mountain freezer. Two of the relacement motors stripped the gears on the second batch of cream. Stay away from this freezer until White Mountain decides it will make this high priced product of the quality it once was.

We looked for an ice cream maker and tried 2 or 3 different brands. But the white Mountain freezer makes the smoothest, creamiest ice cream we've EVER eaten. The recipes were easy to follow, and their suggestions on how to make it were simple to follow. Honestly folks, if you're looking for silky smooth, creamy homemade ice cream White Mountain is the product to purchase.

"Easy to Make and Use Great Tasting Ice Cream" 2010-04-01
By J. Smallwood (California)
This is a great food machine purchase. I found it easy to use and clean. I read the instruction manual prior to using it to make sure I understood any warning or tips. The best tip is to make sure your freezer bowl is frozen in advance. It has liquid inside that must freeze completely prior to use.

Here's my main thoughts on it:

I put the machine together in about 3 minutes.

I used the recipe booklet included to make my first batch of vanilla ice cream.

I like that it makes the recipes from scratch. I can use organic ingredients if I so desired.

I fed a family of three with the ice cream dispensed from it. We were all very happy with the results.

One thing I noticed is the size of the machine needs open space and may not fit under most counters.

If we didnt eat all the ice cream immediately, I place a tupperware bowl underneath the spout. Placed it in the freezer. It did not get hard after a few hours in the freezer. So it can be made ahead of time or during dinner.

I would recommend the machine to another person.

"Best Home made ice cream I ever had!" 2010-02-26
By D.R. Davis (Rockledge, FL)
Make sure your freezer is zero degrees and follow the instructions, it is that easy. Takes a little longer than 20 minutes to get the consistancy I like 30 minutes is more like it. Great soft serve, will stand right up in a cone no problem.

"Ice Cream Maker" 2010-01-26
By radio62 (Avilla, IN United States)
After reviewing what everybody else has written I have learned that you have to keep this freezer bowl in the back of your freezer just to make ice cream. I can make some flavor and put that in my freezer and make some ice cream without buying this machine on my own. I want a self contained ice cream maker that can make a product by plugging it in the wall without a freezer in sight. So I guess this product is not for me.

"This thing is fun, fun, fun!!" 2010-01-05
By Lucy (Salt Lake, Utah)
Got his as a gift for Christmas...what a thoughtful friend! We live far out into the country and getting ice cream home during the summer is almost impossible..even with freezer bags, ice chests, etc, the store bought ice cream is often runny. We just got used to the idea that we could not have fancy grocery store ice cream during July and August :(

As long as you follow the instructions and keep the freezer bowl in the back of your freezer (I keep the bowl in our spare frig's top freezer, so it is not often opened), it makes decent soft serve ice cream. Take the time to read the other reviews and you can learn alot about how to operate this Cuisinart...it's very simple, but there are a few "tricks" to make it even easier.

The only additional advice I can add, is to buy the Ben and Jerry's ice cream recipe book with this and make some FANTASTIC ice cream. Just follow the instructions for making soft serve and after about 12 minutes, dump the soft serve into a tupperware bowl and freeze for a few hours - delicious!! The ice cream will taste as good (if not better) than the most expensive ice cream and costs very, very little. This unit is simple and easy to operate. Making the ice cream mix is easy and cleanup is a snap.Probably the nicest and most fun gift we have ever received!

"Soft Serve Ice Cream - Good; Sprinkle device from Hades" 2009-12-31
By H. Lanford (Chapel Hill, NC USA)
Our kids asked for the soft serve ice cream maker for Christmas. I did make really delicious soft serve ice cream. However, the sprinkle device did not work as planned - dumping the contents of sprinkles on the floor! Given that my wife had recently done a thorough cleaning of the kitchen, she was not a happy camper. We spend an hour cleaning it up, and we are still finding the sprinkles!

"BEWARE" 2010-05-21
By baker (Dallas, TX United States)
This is a first for me to write a review on anything, but I am significantly disappointed. I love my Kitchenaid mixer so I saw the ice cream maker as a natural progression. Though I followed the ice cream maker instructions to the letter, my first attempt at using the ice cream maker burned out my mixer. Now I am having to replace my 6 qt, 575W Kitchenaid stand mixer.

"Kitchen Aide Ice Cream Maker" 2010-05-20
By Lost (Fonthill, ON, Canada)
I had purchased this unit based on a friends recommendation. Since purchasing it I have made 2 batches of French Vanilla Ice Cream and 1 batch of Orange Sorbet. Both were ready to serve in less than the recommended time. I don't know if my freezer is colder than other folks, but the unit works very well.

One evening was quite warm in the house, the ice cream froze in less than the suggested time, but it did start to melt quickly while scooping it out of the bowl and dasher. So we just had to eat it up faster, some how I don't find that a negative.

The orance sorbet tasted so much better than anything I have ever purchased from a store.

I am certain you will enjoy the fresh and creamy taste of either home made ice cream or home made sorbet.

"This makes the most AMAZING ice-cream!!!" 2010-05-13
By Boardingace (San Diego, CA)
I LOVE this kitchen-aid attachment and would highly recommend it to ANYONE!! I have most of the kitchen-aid attachments and this is by far one of my favorites (along with the pasta maker). It requires almost no skill to operate and makes the most delectable ice-cream that will amaze you and your friends. I make all of my recipes from the Ben & Jerry's cookbook - sometimes I use raw eggs; sometimes (when sharing with friends) I use eggbeaters. The first ice-cream I made was the caramel one from the kitchen aid booklet and it was very strange in texture. I then made a light chocolate ice-cream from the mixer bible book which wasn't very good. Then I started using Ben & Jerry's recipes and suddenly I was eating the best ice-cream I had EVER had in my life - seriously, NOTHING COMPARES TO THIS ICE-CREAM. Every single Ben & Jerry's recipe has been outstanding. Once you have a good ice-cream base, you can add whatever you like. Like B&J say, there's no such thing as bad ice-cream :) Friends who try this ice-cream all say it's the best they've ever had. Every single person. It is seriously good ice-cream. I serve it in little tiny bowls because it is super rich, and when you eat really good food, it's all about tasting each bite and savoring the moment, not scarfing down bowls of it like you have to with the light kind so you can feel satisfied. This ice-cream is amazing. And did I mention, it's easy to make?

"I'm eating a LOT more Ice Cream now" 2010-05-12
By Charles E. Wingo IV (Conyers, GA)
This product just works. It's solid and well designed, and will fit virtually any KitchenAid stand mixer. There are really only two drawbacks to it: it takes up a lot of room in your freezer, and even fruit sorbets have a lot of calories.

That said, I'm extremely happy with it. I only wish it came with a better set of recipies. If you buy it, buy a book of recipies along with it. (I'm really happy with the Ben & Jerry's book I got - I've tried four of the recipies so far, and they've all been excellent).

Highly recommended.

Amazon.com

Creating up to 1-1/2 quarts of ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, or frozen drinks at home takes only about 20 minutes with this electric appliance, and salt and ice are not needed. After the machine's chilling chamber has been in the freezer for about eight hours the liquid between its walls is thoroughly frozen. The chamber then goes atop the power base, the unit's paddle goes into the chamber, the transparent top is locked in place, and the machine is turned on. Ingredients go into the chamber through an opening in the top as the paddle turns. The chamber chills the ingredients to whatever consistency is desired--though dense treats are hard to make because the paddle churns in air.
Chocolate chips, chopped fruit, nuts, and other special ingredients can be added toward the end. The chamber is nonstick for easy cleanup. Storing it in the freezer ensures a frozen confection is only 20 to 40 minutes away when the mood strikes. The machine measures 10 inches in diameter and 15 inches high and weighs 9-1/2 pounds. It carries a three-year warranty against defects. A detailed instruction booklet including many recipes is included.--Fred Brack

"WOW" 2010-05-23
By Ron C. Weber (Tucson, AZ, USA)
Will never buy ice cream again!! At first was hesitant bytthe few negative reviews. Bought one two days ago and bought a load of milk and supplies cause figured it would take 5 or 6 times to get it right. have made 4 ice creams already. So far they have all turned out GREAT! have always loved soft serve better. used mostly the recipes that came with the machine except that being lactose intolerant, i used lactaid milk and also used baking splenda instead of sugar. It worked out fine. But, i did make sure all the ingredients were real cold before i put them into the machine. and also i put the 2 bowls into the chest freezer in plastic bags. We are real happy with this for sure.

If I wanted sugar milk instead of ice cream I would never have purchased this. I've tried it several times with the bowl frozen solid and it did absolutely nothing at all.

"Best Little Ice Cream Maker" 2010-05-16
By L. Norris (South Carolina)
Without a doubt, this is a great appliance! Mine was a gift, but Amazon's price is the best (as is the service). It works exactly as Cuisinart says it will and what more can you ask than honesty. The bowl freezes quickly in my upright freezer. Some reviews say their bowl never freezes solid. Perhaps their freezers need adjusting? In fact, after making ice cream (about 20 minutes) my bowl is still mostly frozen.Recipes do not seem to be as important as when baking, so don't be afraid to try something innovative. Start with a proven recipe to get the feel of it, then improvise. We are healthy eaters. It's nice to know the ingredients I'm using are healthy. It's also nice to be able to adjust the sweetness to our liking.

Have fun!

"Great Ice Cream Maker" 2010-05-10

Great product very fast and easy to use. Downside,...it is very loud! Freeze the bowl overnight, and pull out and mix together your favorite blend and in 20 minutes you have ice cream! Great for the kiddos to use!

Bad bad bad

1) The bowl never get freezed, even with my refrigerator in max power.

2) The base is very noisy (around 90 dB)

3) It's imposible to do an ice cream on it.

The worst item from cuisinart.(note that here in Colombia this item costs around 300 US Dollars)(in stores only)

  • Timer controls operation for different frozen confections
  • Housing, bowl, paddle made of stainless steel for easy cleaning
  • 12 inches wide, 11 inches high, 18 inches deep; weighs 38 pounds
Amazon.com Review

Fully automatic and precisely controlled by a timer, this machine takes the trouble and guesswork out of making ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt, gelato, and frozen drinks at home. Ingredients go into the bowl, the timer is set, two buttons are pressed and about 30 minutes later 1-1/2 quarts of a frozen confection are ready for consumption. Because the machine doesn't require its bowl to be frozen for hours in a refrigerator's freezer (like less expensive machines that only churn), it can immediately begin making another batch. If a batch becomes too hard the machine shuts off automatically. Not only does it work professionally it looks the part, as the housing, bowl, and paddle are made of stainless steel for sanitation and easy cleaning. The 100-watt machine measures 12 inches wide, 11 inches high, and 18 inches deep, and it weighs 38 pounds. Made it Italy, it carries a one-year warranty against defects. An instruction booklet with many recipes is included. --Fred Brack

"not for that price" 2010-04-22
By W. Page (Pittsburgh, PA)
I was disappointed that it does not do what it claims, not even close. I bought it and tried to make a few batches that the instruction book said would take 30 minutes. As recommended, I started with cold ingredients. After 50 minutes I still had a soupy mix. If it cost under $100 dollars, maybe I would have learned to deal with it falling below expectations. I returned it. I will give Amazon a lot of credit here, the return process was easy and the refund was expedient.

"Worth the price" 2010-03-17
By John R. Taylor
This machine is well designed and well made. Not only that it does what it is supposed to do - make ice cream. I initially purchased the Cuisinart ICE 50 for less than half the cost and that is what I got less than half the Lello machine. The Cuisinart is badly designed, poorly constructed and limited customer service. An ice cream maker is essentially a refrigerator with a paddle to mix and maintain an even consistency. The refrigeration unit is well ventilated and so you have ice cream in as little as 30 min. Even after repairing my brand new Cuisinart, the ventilation was poor and the mixture came out like soup after 40 minutes. The mixer on the Cuisinart machine is on a long arm that has a tendency to be displaced upwards in the event the mix does become thick. Save yourself the brain damage and spend the extra money on this machine. The stress you save yourself will be worth it.

"Excellent ice cream maker" 2010-02-17
By LiteraryFan (Wisconsin)
I read a number of reviews before purchasing this model. Everyone seemed to like this one, and the only concern I saw was that some people wanted it to have a removable container to make it easier to clean. I noticed, though, that most models commonly do not have removable containers, so I assumed it chills better that way. Yes, it is a bit of a pain to clean it, but it makes the most outstanding ice cream that I don't mind a bit! It is very easy to use (put in the ingredients, push two buttons, set the timer), and chills quickly. The recommended time is 30 minutes, but the timer can be set up to 60 minutes, and I found 40 is about right for a soft-serve consistency. I sometimes put it in the freezer for a few more hours if I want it firmer, but it's great right out of the machine. This is a top quality machine, and worth the money.

Advice - don't tighten the nut down much on the beater when you put it in. I did that once, and it tightened up further while freezing - I needed a wrench to remove it - so be gentle on it and make it easy for yourself! Also, if you go with one good ice cream book, get "The Perfect Scoop" by David Lebovitz. Between that book and this machine, I'm in heaven!

"Broke after 2 months of use and manufacturer refused to fix" 2010-01-12
By Khristina A. Vayda (Austria)
My machine broke only after 2 months of use, the nut on the blade stock so firmly nothing anyone can do to unscrew it. My husband tried, my brother, my in-laws, my friends tried, nothing works. I called customer service number, and they were very rude to me, sounded very annoyed and suggested I souk it in the water. However, it's impossible,

considering that the bolt is higher than the bowl level. So, now I am still occasionally use it, but washing it is so much more difficult with the sharp blade stock inside. I am surprised of how bad is the customer service considering how expensive is the machine.

"Start a tradition" 2009-12-29
By Benjamin Chodroff (Cleveland, OH USA)
I purchased this as a gift for my father and the whole family loves it. It made the best vanilla bean ice cream I have ever tasted. We then made mango peach sorbet and it too was incredible. It's only been a few days but I think we have a new tradition - making fresh ice cream.

Looks - Gorgeous mirror finish. It takes up a lot of counter space but it'll be a conversation starter.

Quality - Weighs a ton but top notch. I'm betting it will last a few lifetimes.

Ease - Two buttons (cold and stir) and a timer knob - simple. The instructions have great easy recipes. The cleanup was quick.

Results - The best tasting ice cream, sorbets, and sherbets you'll ever taste. Makes just the right amount for a family to share over a few days.

"excellent intro to ice cream making" 2010-05-11
By Mr. Jerkface (DC)
If you've got enough room in your freezer for the bowl, you've got yourself an ice cream maker. Very simple, easy to follow recipes and there are thousands more online. The perfect intro to small batch ice cream making. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to give ice cream making a try.

"Easy to make, even easier to eat" 2010-05-10
By Jimmy Cooper
I bought the KitchenAid ice cream maker attachment on the strength of the reviews that I had read. Those that mentioned problems, I haven't found those issues. The instructions to me, were clear on how to install the attachment. My KitchenAid mixer is 9 years old and I had no problems with it fitting on my mixer. I kept the bowl frozen for a few days while I assembled the ingredients to make my first batch of ice cream. I made French vanilla, one of the recipes in the manual and it turned out great. It is like soft serve custard when it first comes out, so it can be eaten right away. If it is frozen, it turns into the consistency of regular ice cream. I bought an ice cream recipe book with over 200 recipes. I am looking forward to trying some of the many different flavors. I would think that they should turn out as well as the first batch. Bon appetit!

Cheap, quiet, and easy as hell. Our ice cream was outstanding. I am a pretty good cook, but you could be missing both arms and legs and half your brain and STILL be able to make delicious ice cream with this. It's seriously idiot-proof.

"I am very pleased!" 2009-07-15
By C. A. Willis (GA USA)
I just purchased this a few weeks ago. I have already made at least 6 batches and I am impressed! I was skeptical that frozen yogurt could be any good, but boy am I wrong! It is delicious! Also, easy. Rich frozen custard, also yummy. This baby is bringing out my mad scientist experimental side!

The bucket does need to be well frozen, and the room shouldn't be too warm. I have found that one batch every other day works well. (Part of that could be my overcrowded freezer isn't so very cold). Pour in the ingredients, process for 20-30 minutes, eat! Easy to wash, everything is easy. My only complaint is that I may be eating too much...

"Awesome Ice Cream Maker, Fantastic Value" 2010-05-14
By Joyce A. Brenc
1st, a great value. If you get cream at a bulk store, 6 bucks for a 50 pound sack of rock salt, ice from your freezer, and a few pennies for the other ingredients (sugar and vanilla), you're looking at a gallon of high quality ice cream for 5 bucks or less. Figure you're saving 5-7 bucks a use. That means this unit pays for itself if you use if 6 times, maybe 10-20 times if you're spending a lot on added ingredients.

2nd. Simple to use. Really well designed. Can't for the life of me understand people sticking plastic orange juice container parts to "fix" it. If it doesn't work, bring it back! Otherwise, top only goes on one way, and there's a locking feature that means that the unit must be properly assembled to fit correctly.

3rd. For people saying "it uses a lot of ice, and I had to run to the store . . . " my lord people, are we that helpless? You own a freezer, right? Make your own ice. All it takes is just a bit of planning. Just a bit people, not invading-Soviet Russia level planning. If you have an auto ice maker on your freezer, just empty it into a very large zip lock 2 or 3 times and you're good to go.

4th. The unit stops spinning when the ice cream reaches a given viscosity. I've made several batches of several different types and the only time the ice cream was "runny" was when I didn't break up the cookies and they clogged the mixer holes and caused the unit to stop prematurely - my fault. The other batches all came out about the same - like a very thick yogurt consistency. Into the freezer, and a day later it's getting there and 2 days later it's the same consistency as store bought. If you're getting runny ice cream, you're doing something wrong. BTW - if you use more crushed ice and/or salt, the mixture gets colder quicker, and you'll get more-crystally ice cream. If you use regular ice and/or less salt, the mixing takes longer and you get a creamier texture - adjust to desired consistency!

5th. As for using Ben and Jerry's recipes, be aware that this can affect the mixer. Maybe BandJ's recipes require a higher torque motor. We have made several types of ice cream from the instructions that came with the mixer, and they all work great. If you load the ice cream with pretzels and what not, this might not be a powerful enough mixer.

Great unit. Highly recommended.

"broke on first use" 2010-05-13
By Eve in Decatur (Decatur, GA)
We bought this product to replace an old similar HB unit that we thought was about to croak. We loaded up the new machine for the first time and turned it on. It started making a weird sound. We took it apart to find that the machine had destroyed itself before we even got one batch of ice cream. Since it was too late to return it, we threw it away and continued to use the old model which has valiantly refused to die.

"Creamy, delicious ice-cream!" 2010-05-12
By Margaret A. Nelson

Do you ever crave old fashioned, ice cream? I mean the kind that only your grandparents talked about; the kind that was so fresh, flavorful, and really delicious that you couldn't stop eating it. Crave it no more! The Hamilton Beach 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker allows you to create that same wonderful, really creamy ice-cream of long ago! Easy to follow directions, some recipes only require as little as 5 ingredients. I have one suggestion: prior to making the ice-cream, freeze the metal container, this will cut down on the time it takes to process the ice-cream.Hamilton Beach 68330R 4-Quart Automatic Ice-Cream Maker

"Great Ice Cream Maker" 2010-04-11
By C. Potter (Texas)
My husband is an ice cream fanatic. I decided that one of the best presents I could get him for Christmas last year was a way to make ice cream whenever he wants it...which is a lot! Since December we have made nearly a gallon of ice cream at least every other week. We have yet to have any issues with the machine. It is loud, but I didn't expect it to be quiet. It freezes well. My biggest recommendation is to make sure you have a separate container to move the ice cream into for placement in the freezer. The metal freezing canister gets very cold, and hard to hold if put in the freezer for long term storage.

"Works great! A bit noisy." 2010-05-17
By C. Kyhl (Midwest, USA)
- I leave the tub in the deep freeze with a saran wrap cover secured with a rubber band. Minus 10 degrees and can make ice cream in < 30 minutes with chilled ingredients.

- I like the 2 quart size for our family of 6. The 1.5 quart unit would be too small.

- It does make a bit more noise than I care to have in the kitchen, so I let it do its thing in the laundry room instead. It's not as noisy as my Kitchen-Aid stand mixer (not even close).

- I have made a couple custards (i.e. ice cream with eggs that you heat and thicken) from the recipe book so far and let them cool overnight in the fridge before freezing them. The chocolate recipe was excellent. Custards are MUCH more smooth than un-cooked recipes. I also like to use Baker's Sugar instead of regular granular/table sugar. Baker's sugar is much more fine and disolves in a snap.

- I'm going to purchase a 2nd tub so that we can make a couple different flavors and handle a larger group.

"Well Worth It!" 2010-05-14
By Elizabeth A. Cintolo (New England)
If you want ice cream that's fresh, free of thickeners and additives, and are not a purist who insists on crank-handles and rock salt, this is the machine to purchase.

I was directed to the Cuisinart when it was recommended in a recipe post for hot fudge sauce that contained no corn syrup.

The machine is compact, easy to use, easy to clean, and performs consistently.

I have tried some of the recipes from the enclosed pamphlet, and the ingredient and yield amounts are accurate. I've tried a few recipes from other sources, and they worked just as well.

The only drawbacks: The bowl for the machine is a double-walled water jacket and must be kept in the freezer for several hours before use. This is only problematic if you have a small freezer.

I've found that the ice cream sets up better on humid or rainy days. Whenever I've used the machine on dry days, it doesn't thicken in the machine. The finished product will set up nicely after a few hours in the freezer, without crystalizing.

I can't speak of it's performance with raw or slightly pasturized heavy cream~ I only have access to ultra-pasturized cream.

I ordered the Cuisinart and it was sent UPS ground (free shipping). Expected shipping time was 10 days; it arrived in three days.

"Easy, Simple but is loud" 2010-05-08
By Izmadiz (usa)
We make ice cream constantly with this machine, so much so, that I am on here to buy another bowl so we never have to wait to wash and refreeze the bowl. Here are some things you might want to know beforehand.

One, it is loud. Quite loud actually, so not something you want running with guests over.

Two, You can't make one batch and then try to make a second batch immediately afterward after transferring first batch out because it loses enough "freeze power" to not do well the second time. (Hence, why we need a second bowl!)

Three, It seems better to stick the bowl in our deep freeze. It's colder than our fridge freezer and doesn't get opened as much. In the fridge freezer, it seems to be more runny than when we use the deep freeze, so you may want to turn up your fridge freezer for better consistency. Definitely need to leave the bowl in for 24 hours if you aren't in a cold cold freezer.

Four, To refreeze if you wash it, you have to wait a long time for it to unfreeze so you can wash it (try to wash it too soon and your water/sponge freezes. But you can skip a few washings and just scrape out the ice cream, refreeze for just a few hours instead of all day if you intend to make the same flavor next b/c you can't get it all out.

"Works great, not as loud as I thought it would be" 2010-05-07
By Natalie Bates (Houston, TX United States)
I've made several batches of ice-cream with this now. It's the best ice-cream maker I've ever had! I was wary of the noise issues the other reviewers talked about, but it honestly doesn't seem that loud to me. Highly recommended.

"Best little ice cream maker in Texas" 2010-04-24
By G. Burkhart (Winter Haven, FL)
We have been making ice cream the old fashioned way - ice, salt, etc. We are "sold" on this item. It is a breeze to make delicious ice cream in 30 minutes instead of an hour and lot of clean up. As a matter of fact, we now own three of them and can make 3 flavors all at the same time. Great product.

"Not what expected - never freezes" 2010-05-09
By Juan Botero Londoño (Colombia (south america))
Bad bad bad

1) The bowl never get freezed, even with my refrigerator in max power.
2) The base is very noisy (around 90 dB)

3) It's imposible to do an ice cream on it.

The worst item from cuisinart.
(note that here in Colombia this item costs around 300 US Dollars)(in stores only)

"Wow!!" 2010-05-07
By Stacey (Florida)
Not even done with my first batch of ice cream (10 minutes to go) and I can't believe how amazing this thing is! I used the standard vanilla recipe that is in the instruction book and so far it tastes amazing (I couldn't help but sneak a taste)! It is a bit loud, but I guess all ice cream makers are.

"Great for a Beginner" 2010-05-04
By Michele Mattix (Sedona, AZ)
I bought this unit based upon the many favorable reviews on Amazon's site and I'm really glad I did. I had never made my own ice cream before and I wanted to make 2010 the summer of ice cream. The unit arrived early on my front door step. I immediately read the instructions, put the freezing unit in my freezer to prepare it for my first concoction, then went to the health food store to stock up on organic products.

For my first few attempts, I used recipes in the Cuisinart book that comes with the unit. I started with chocolate -- an egg-free recipe. It turned out wonderful! Perfect texture and good flavor. Being a chocolate fan, I experimented with other chocolate variations and discovered that it's very easy to make ice cream with this unit. I have since made about a dozen different ice creams and sorbets -- each time learning how to do it better the next time.

I always chill my 'batter' for at least 2 hours before freezing it in the machine and I've never had a problem with soft ice cream. I've made ice cream with and without eggs and I must say I haven't made up my mind which I prefer. The eggs make a richer ice cream, but I prefer a lighter flavor. I'm also still working out what type of sweetener I prefer. Most recipes call for sugar (and lots of it). Usually the recipes are too sweet for me so I've been using other sweeteners. My favorite (so far) is agave nectar. It is a honey-like syrup that is sweet without imparting a strong flavor (the way honey does). It works very well with fruit sorbets.

For the price, this ice cream maker brings a lot of fun into the home. I have learned to make small batches of ice cream -- about half the capacity of the unit -- so I can experiment with many flavors and not be 'stuck' with too much of any one flavor. It's a great addition to my kitchen and my friends and family LOVE opening my freezer these days!!

"I love this machine!" 2010-05-04
By bb_415 (east bay, ca)
This is one of those wedding presents that you think will never be used, but I love this machine! I don't use it all the time, we go through phases, but it's really easy since we leave the bowls in the freezer so we can make ice cream at the spur of the moment. It's quiet and so fast, especially since I like soft ice cream. I haven't tried making frozen yogurt yet, but it's on my list.
